Street Television

Ghanaians love television. That is something I never fail to marvel at when I roam the streets of Madina. Huge crowds of people stand in front of any shop, pharmacy, private home… you name it, to watch television. It’s terribly fascinating especially when there’s a major league match like the one between Chelsea and Man Utd., some weeks back. Walking the 10 minute distance from the bus stop to the house, I counted not less than 30 “viewing” spots. One such spot had some 90 people standing around watching the match! Made me wish I had a camera…

  1. Here in the U.S. some people have a T.V. in every room. I don’t own one myself. I don’t want the corporations programming my mind.
